Compelled by
the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the tradition of reformed theology, and
our experiences of God's grace, we boldly and publicly
proclaim:
We gather together to
Worship. We gather as a community, recognizing that
the reading, hearing, preaching, and confessing of the Word is
central to our worship. We are drawn together to praise God
and to pray, to center and to listen, searching for God's Word,
challenged by the Gospel.
We are
committed to a circle that is wide and unbroken, and
declare that all who desire to join with us will be welcomed and
respected. We resolve to follow Christ's model of perfect love
in tearing down barriers, erected by society and the church, that
exclude rather than include.
We wrestle
with and nurture the tensions that arise from our differences, and
we celebrate our shared faith. We struggle to see
each other as God sees every human being: equally loved and
valued. We express the reality of that tension through both
tradition and innovation in our worship and music as we joyfully
celebrate our faith.
We are a
learning community. We offer opportunities for growth
and knowledge for all ages through which we encounter God's revealed
Word.
We support
each other in our struggles to learn and practice what it
means to live the Gospel in our individual and collective
lives. We foster a safe atmosphere where doubting and
questioning, thinking and challenging are seen as fundamental
elements of the faith experience.
We are open
to the moving of the Spirit and open to change in ourselves
and in our community. We believe in God's continuing
revelation, even when we are nudged out of our place of
comfort.
We see
service to the greater community and to the world as an essential
part of the life of the church.
